Carmet Tugs have been the sole towage contractor for the Manchester Ship Canal since 1989. We have managed the four Manchester Ship Canal Tugs for the Manchester Ship Canal Company, now Peel Ports, for the last 32 years. In addition our two ASD tugs, which mainly working the River Mersey, have the capability of assisting large Tankers and Bulk Carriers in and out of various port locations.

Trusted for over three decades

The M.S.C tugs are based at Eastham and regularly assist ships to Ellesmere Port, Stanlow and Runcorn. The MSC Viking, MSC Victory, MSC Volant and MSC Viceroy work on a system that allows two tugs to be available at short notice 24/7, with at least one other tug on standby.

Some of our crews have been working the tugs since the contract first started which has allowed constant knowledge and experience to be passed on throughout the years. The crews take immense pride in their own tugs which is why the vessels are still in immaculate condition today.

Our two ASD tugs are also based at Eastham and are available to service towage requirements in other ports, if required, with coastal towage licenses to mobilise at short notice.
